Learn more about one of Vitamin Angels’ program partners in New Mexico
“New Mexico has a remarkably strong Department of Health,” according to one of Vitamin Angels’ local program partners. “I really have to hand it to them for being supportive of communities in New Mexico that they understand are otherwise underserved or unserved, which is much of whom we work with.”
Nearly a third of women in New Mexico do not receive prenatal care in the first trimester and nearly 66% do not take a prenatal multivitamin in the month prior to pregnancy. Delays in prenatal care are often associated with higher rates of uninsurance and poverty.
Vitamin Angels’ partner continued, “Given income levels and the amount that people need to work in order to maintain housing, it is very difficult for people to always eat well … Having access to the Vitamin Angels prenatal vitamins, we’ve been able to make sure that women are set up in the best way possible as they proceed through their pregnancies.”
